1. Early Pickup & Winding 4x4 Mountain Road: Day trips from Panama City (75405P1 and 339059P23) pick you up between 5:00 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. in a shared 6-passenger 4x4 SUV. The drive takes 2.5 to 3 hours each way, including ~45 minutes of steep, winding curves through the Cordillera de San Blas hills to Puerto de Cartí (take motion-sickness tablets beforehand if you are sensitive to mountain roads).
2. **Shared Lancha Boat Ride:** From Cartí, you board a covered motorized boat (lancha) for 25 to 45 minutes across the bay to islands such as Isla Perro Chico (sunken shipwreck snorkel), Isla Pelícano, Isla Perro Grande, or the natural sandbar swimming pool.
3. Mandatory Original Physical Passport: Every foreign traveler must present their original physical passport at the Guna Yala border checkpoint (photocopies or phone photos are not accepted for non-residents).
4. Mandatory On-Site Cash Taxes (~USD 22 to USD 25 per person): Bring small US bills to pay the Guna Yala Comarca entry tax (USD 20 per foreign visitor) and Cartí port/island dock fee (USD 2 to USD 5).
